ENTER City Beach artist John Major’s imagination with his latest exhibition in Floreat.
Major’s stunning “3D HD heli art” features at The Boulevard Centre Gallery until September.
The former deep sea diver has a passion for the ocean and everything “inside it, in it and on it”, which he channels into his canvases.
Major is often seen at the beach with his Doc Martens-clad easel where he soaks up the activity around him.
“I sort of download the information from my imagination and I put it onto a kind of flow chart,” he said.
“I use as much palate knife as I do brush.”
It takes “hours and hours and hours” to create his textured pieces but it as a labour of love for self-taught Major, whose art is on display at restaurants including Indiana in Cottesloe and 300 Acres in Wembley.
“Sometimes I find it hard to sell them as I love them so much,” he said.
Along with absorbing viewers into the scene, Major hopes his artwork encourages other people to try creating pieces themselves.
The free exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm until September 2.
