Family of Ron Smales pays tribute to late Subiaco jeweller

THE family of Subiaco jewellery Ron Smales, who died at the age of 69 last week, has released a statement about the man who opened Smales Jewellers Subiaco in 1989.

“We are heartbroken to share the news that Ron has passed away in his sleep, Thursday 12 April,” it said.

“Ron was our passionate father, grandfather, brother, uncle, work colleague and friend.

“Ron was an experienced watchmaker, a craft acquired working side by side his father, in Kalgoorlie, where the business originated.

“While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable passion and energy for his business, his family and his life.”
