Emcee Nine News Perth presenter Emmy Kubainksi said the launch was a great way to kick off the Swim and Resort Series.

While Fashion Council WA Chair Kate O’Hara, who stepped in for director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan, said the event was a great way to promote WA and the fashion industry to local, national and international visitors and encouraged people to get behind it.

“Make sure you do what you can in promoting the program,” she said.

Designers to take to the runway include Manning Cartell who will showcase their latest collection on day one and returning to WA for day two is kaftan queen Camilla.

The designer whose pieces have been worn by celebrities including Oprah will be showcased after the WA Designer Runway event which features eight local designers including Morrison, Amore and Sorvete.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said the event provided a great backdrop to show off Perth’s natural attractions.

“Perth is renowned for its spectacular coastline and magnificent Swan River and this event will help us to showcase to our neighbouring audiences, particularly in the Asia Pacific region,” he said.

Harvey-Hanrahan is in Beijing for China Fashion Week supporting Ael’kemi and 33 Poets.
