BRODY Wiese may have been born more than three hours after WA’s first 2018 baby, but he was three weeks early for his surprised parents Kristal Twight and Rob Wiese.

He was also the first baby born in 2018 at St John of God Subiaco Hospital coming in to the world at 3:38am on New Year’s Day, weighing a healthy 3.375kg and measuring 49cm.

“We are very excited that baby Wiese was one of the first babies born in Perth for 2018,” Kristal said.

“It’s even more special for us as New Year’s Day was our five year anniversary.

“It certainly heightens the excitement for us.”

The little boy is Kristal and Rob’s second child to be born at St John of God Subiaco Hospital – his three-year-old big brother Leighton was also born at the hospital in June 2014.

From Christmas Eve to January 1 2018, SJGSH staff delivered 54 babies – 21 girls and 33 boys.
