Former Catholic priest charged with additional historical child sex offence

A FORMER Catholic priest has been charged with an additional historical child sex offence by WA Police.

The 83-year-old Subiaco man allegedly assaulted a seven-year-old boy in 1967 while he was a priest at a Catholic church in Carlisle.

He was charged with unlawfully and indecently assaulting a male.

The man will appear before the Perth Maghistrates Court today.

He has been charged with a string of historical child sex offences over the past year.

In April, he was charged with six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 14 years, one count of unlawfully and indecently assaulting a male and two counts of unlawful assault.

The April charges related to offences allegedly committed while he was a priest at a Catholic church in Shenton Park.

In July, he was charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a female, relating to alleged offences committed against a seven-year-old girl in Carlisle.

In August, he was charged with another three counts of indecently assaulting a female.

The August charges relate to alleged offences committed against a six-year-old girl between 1969 and 1972 in Carlisle.
