Former Christ Church Grammar student wins top UWA prize

FORMER Christ Church Grammar School student Matthew Eton has been named a top UWA prize winner, taking out the prestigious Dr Vincent Harry Cooper Memorial Prize.

Mr Eton received the prize for his dissertation on Sub-surface Feature Characterisation Using Simulated Optical Palpation and completed his honours in biomedical engineering.

The award is presented annually to students who have submitted an outstanding dissertation while gaining their Bachelor of Philosophy with First Class Honours.

He explored through his dissertation the development of novel computational imaging approaches to improving the detectability of tumours in tissue.

Matthew has been working with BRITElab at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Nedlands and will take up a position with Azure Consulting in April.
