Former Peppermint Grove councillor allegedly stole $4.7 million from client

POLICE will alledge former Peppermint Grove councillor Scott Francis Fleay stole about $4.7 million from a client of his accounting company.

Mr Fleay resigned from the council on August 14, after he was charged with multiple counts of stealing while holding a power of attorney and stealing as a director of a company.

It is alleged he took money 19 times from a client’s account between 2007 and 2010, allegedly for his own benefit, in crimes not related to his nine years on the council.

Mr Fleay will reappear at Perth Magistrate’s Court on September 19.
