Former Peppermint Grove councillor to reappear in court on stealing charges in February

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

FORMER Peppermint Grove councillor Scott Fleay will next face court for allegedly stealing $4.7 million from his accountancy’s client on February 20.

Mr Fleay’s lawyer, Gerald Yin of DG Price and Co, asked for the date when Mr Fleay appeared at Perth Magistrates Court before deputy chief magistrate Elizabeth Woods this morning.

Outside the court, Mr Yin said the time was needed so that the Department of Public Prosecutions and police could co-ordinate transfer of the case’s files.

He said the next hearing might discuss a trial or sentencing.

Mr Fleay has pleaded not guilty to three charges of stealing while having power of attorney, but has yet to enter pleas on another 25 charges.

The allegations are unrelated to his time on the council.
