ORGANISATIONS with volunteers can apply for up to $1000 to host an event during National Volunteer Week.

Volunteering WA this week received $244,000 from Lotterywest to offer grants for events from May 20-26 that recognise and thank volunteers.

Volunteering WA chief executive Tina Williams said volunteers were the backbone of communities around the state and it was important to acknowledge their contributions.

“Volunteers and organisations who generously and regularly give their time to making our communities better places to live should be recognised and celebrated,” Ms Williams said.
