Fundraisers plan

The group of 20, including two men, have been training together at Spring Into Fitness in Fremantle for several months.

The Telethon Adventurers fundraiser is the first ‘adventure’ for co-founder Emily Parish who lost her four-year-old son Elliot to brain cancer in 2011.

‘It’s been so amazing to train together as a team,’ Mrs Parish said.

‘We did three week blocks of training including cardio, leg work, stretches and partnering up to support each other.’

Mrs Parish’s godmother Elsie Evans, who recently turned 72, will join her while team manager Narelle Antonio, who has three young children, will continue to co-ordinate fundraising on home soil while the walkers complete the 10-day trip.

‘As it gets closer, the emotion of everything is big for me,’ she said.

‘Every time we get together as a group I leave so excited.

‘Team China has been an incredible success for the Telethon Adventurers.’

The team has raised nearly $95,000.
