Presbyterian Ladies College student cuts hair to fundraise for Variety.

Earlier this month, 20 Year 11 Presbyterian Ladies’ College students took part in a fundraiser for Variety – the Children’s Charity.

“We organised it because we heard about the cause and we wanted to do something that would mean a lot to us as teenage girls,” Clea said.

“It was a minimum contribution of $100 per girl and many raised more.”

Fellow Year 11 student Grace Moscou said it was a weird feeling knowing someone else would be wearing her hair as a wig.

“But in a good way; I’m glad it’s going to such a good cause,” Grace said.

“We do a lot of fundraisers but it’s different making a personal sacrifice like this.”

Grace said the participating girls made sure their hair was in optimum condition in the lead-up to having it chopped off.

“We made sure our hair was well conditioned and didn’t have any split ends,” she said.

Variety provides wigs to children across Australia who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or illness.
