In August, councillors supported an application with several changes, including specific uses to the northwest corner.
The DAP then received an amended Bunnings application that altered signage and markings on the centre and asked to install tool and paint shops in the northwest corner.
Cr Alastair Tulloch said the council should follow the spirit of their original resolution.
‘It’s with reluctance we have had to accept that Bunnings would be more at home in a light industrial area,’ Cr Tulloch said.
However, Deputy Mayor Bruce Haynes said Bunnings’ latest proposal was the best that could be achieved to activate the area.
‘Previous tenants have failed to make this area successful,’ Cr Haynes said.
The DAP will make the final decision.
