Have a break, visit Street Party

Rosanna CandlerWestern Suburbs Weekly

The free community event, sponsored by the Western Suburbs Weekly, will be held on and around Rokeby Road between Hay Street and Barker Road from 2-9pm.

Eco Faerie Cara said she and her fellow winged entertainers would be running a “fun, high-energy stage show” teaching children about sustainability.

Musician Tim Lowther, from local band The Rogues, said he always looked forward to performing to festival crowds because there was “ a different energy about it”.

Breakdancer Eric Breadon and the Zou Rock Crew will be performing throughout the street party.

“The little kids are so drawn to movement in breakdancing,” Mr Breadon said.

“They love it because it’s so different and unique, with us spinning on our head or on our backs.”

Organiser UpBeat Events production director Ken Allan said the street party would build on the history and culture of Subiaco.

He said unlike previous festivals, they would be activating the side streets and laneways.
