Hospital on top of budget list

The Government will spend $417 million on the construction of the new children’s hospital in Nedlands, which will replace services at Princess Margaret Hospital and is expected to be completed by late 2015.

Another $14.3 million will be spent on a new mental health unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

North Cottesloe, Wembley and West Leederville primary schools will receive $10 million for upgrades and $20 million will go towards construction of the new State Netball Centre.

More than $130 million will be spent on the Perth City Link project and planning for the MAX light rail, which is proposed to include Thomas Street and Broadway in Subiaco and Nedlands. Revealing the new budget last week, Treasurer Troy Buswell said the Government was proud to be delivering on key frontline services, with one in every two dollars going towards law and order, health and education services.
