THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex are parents!

Harry and Meghan took to Instagram last night to announce the birth of their first child — a boy.

Baby Sussex is the first child born to the couple after their wedding last May.

The child weighed 3.3kg and was born in the early hours of Monday morning, London time.

Earlier this evening the palace announced that the Duchess was in labour.

“The Duchess went into labour in the early hours of this morning,” the statement read.

“The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highnesses’ side. An announcement will be made soon.”

Prince Harry is the fifth in the line for the throne and became the Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron of Kilkeel before his wedding to Meghan.

Their child is allowed to take one of his father’s lesser titles and could be known as the Earl of Dumbarton or if the Queen decides she can confer the title of Prince on the infant.

Prince William’s children are Princess and Princes.

The Palace announced that “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news”.

Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer are all siblings of the late Princess Diana, the Duke of Sussex’s mother.

“The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, was overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild and is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well,” the palace added.
