Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

AN alleged thief jumped into a woman’s car while she was in the vehicle at Perry Lakes Park, Floreat during an alleged two-hour crime spree across western suburbs on January 31.

“It will be alleged the man got into the back seat of the Mitsubishi Pajero, and when the victim yelled out the accused ran away,” Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Vojkovich said.

Nothing was taken, but the stolen haul over the next 120 minutes included a camera, wallets, credit cards and about $1900 as the man allegedly drove his black Holden utility while breaking into other cars in Floreat, City Beach and Dalkeith.

It will be alleged the man first struck at Perry Lakes Park between 4.30pm and 5pm.

“He allegedly smashed the front passenger window of a 2017 Silver Audi and rummaged through the vehicle before leaving the area, but nothing was taken,” Sgt Vojkovich said

About 5.10pm, a digital SLR camera, wallet, credit cards and $80 were taken from a white Mazda utility at Bold Park, City Beach, where the car’s owner allegedly saw the man break in.

It will be alleged the man took small valuables, headphones and a backpack, and then took $1800 from a white Toyota RAV4 in Waratah Avenue Dalkeith between 6pm and 6.10pm.

“He left the area in his black Holden utility, and the alleged offence was witnessed by the owner of the Rav 4” Sgt Vojkovich said.

The man was arrested at his Kelmscott home on February 1 and charged with two counts each of stealing and attempted stealing.

He was bailed to reappear at Fremantle Magistrates Court on February 23.
