Prof. Lawrence said she would try to explain her journey to younger women so they could understand the effort that had gone into women’s rights.

‘What I will try to stress is the progress that’s been made because a lot of people in the audience are young women,’ she said.

‘The changes that have been made ” like improvements in education, employment opportunities, health ” and the significance of women joining together and seeking allies in men in campaigning for these outcomes.’

Prof. Lawrence said she also hoped to touch on subjects that still needed work. ‘One of these is the representation of women in the media,’ she said.

‘All I see is the premature sexualisation of women, almost children.

‘And we still have very worrying levels of domestic violence.’

The forum will be held from 11.30am to 1.30pm. To buy tickets visit www.ewbe.com.au.
