COULD the lobster selfie become as popular as a quokka selfie?

Rottnest Cruises owner Myrianthe Riddy thinks so.

The new Rottnest Island business owner helped Tourism Minister Paul Papalia and Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly launch Seafood Saturday on the island marking the start of the summer season last weekend.

Ms Riddy said the lobster selfie was already popular with Asian tourists.

Rottnest Cruises is bringing its Wild Seafood Experience to Rottnest offering visitors an opportunity to haul in cray pots off Geordie Bay before the catch is prepared and cooked on board the boat.

The experience includes a three-course meal and West Australian wines.
