Loreto Nedlands Primary School launches Footprints of Faith

Victoria RificiWestern Suburbs Weekly

LORETO Nedlands Primary School has launched a book Footprints of Faith which tells the story of the school’s patron nun and founder of the Loreto convents Mary Ward.

The idea of a story book for children about Mary Ward was discussed among Loreto circles for about ten years.

The Loreto Schools Advisory Council took on the project along with representatives from all Loreto schools nationwide.

Author of the book and former John Twenty Third student Sophie Sunderland was well versed in the Mary Ward story, while WA illustrator Fiona Burrows brought the book to life.

“Sourcing an illustrator for the project was not easy,” Loreto Nedlands Principal Therese Hussey said.

“However, upon stumbling across Fiona Burrows work, as an emerging WA illustrator, and taking her samples to a Loreto Schools Advisory Council Meeting, the council members were unanimous in selecting Fiona as the preferred artist.

“Loreto Nedlands, along with all the Loreto schools across Australia, are delighted with the product of the book, Footsteps of Faith.”
