Luxury sports cars were the target of thieves in Cottesloe this week

LUXURY and sports cars were the target of thieves on successive days in Cottesloe.

Senior Sergeant Tony Booker said thieves took a grey 2009-model Mercedes from a Brighton Street home between 4.50pm on August 28 and 2pm on August 30.

“They went through the home’s only door left unlocked, after the owner had gone around and closed or locked all the others,” Sgt Booker said.

The thieves found the car’s keys after searching all the rooms in the house, after getting into the property via a rear lane, its yard and gate, and the sole unlocked door.

The following day between 11.15pm and 11.30pm, a 2014 silver Porsche was taken from the verge outside a Grant Street home.

Sgt Booker said the thieves entered through a rear door while the Porsche’s owner and her husband were at home, before they heard the sports car being started and driven off.

It and the Mercedes had not been recovered late last week.
