A CLAREMONT man (26) was allegedly when he burgled a Templetonia Crescent, City Beach home about 8.55am on Monday.

“Police attended after a report of a ‘hot’ burglary, where the offender was in possession of two knives,” Senior Sergeant Tony Booker said.

Seeing police, the burglar ran and jumped over several neighbouring fences.

Police were initially unable to get a police dog to chase the burglar, and had to rely on searching neighbouring backyards by foot.

When a dog did arrive, the burglar was found hiding outside another Templetonia Crescent house.

“He was sitting in a cupboard near the barbecue,” Sgt Booker said.

It will be alleged the man had the knives and cannabis when he was searched.

The man was charged with burglary, stealing, trespass, possession of cannabis and failing to provide details, and more charges may be laid.

He was bailed, with curfew restrictions, to appear at Perth Magistrates Court at a later date.
