Laura PondWestern Suburbs Weekly

A MAN has been arrested after breaking in to a police officer’s home.

The 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, allegedly stole a girl’s bike from the Doubleview home on August 26 at about 9.15pm.

Several days later, on August 30, the officer was off duty and saw a man riding the bike a few streets away from where it was stolen.

He challenged the rider, who dumped the bike and ran away.

The officer took a photo of the alleged offender and showed Scarborough Police, who recognised the suspect.

Police later found the man and arrested him after finding he had an outstanding warrant and was on bail for stealing offences.

Officers also allege he stole nearly $2000 worth of clothing from Tradies Workwear in Osborne Park on July 22 and recently stole meat from Relish Café in Doubleview and slept in the café overnight.

He has been remanded in custody to face court on September 9 on three charges of stealing, trespass and breaching bail.
