A SCOTCH College Student is raising money for a synagogue in Mt Lawley by holding a quiz night in June.

Max Jones (15) is giving back to Temple David, which supported him through his 2016 bar mitzvah, as part of his Personal Project.

“Temple David taught me everything I know, I grew up going to that synagogue,” he said.

“It’s going to be a normal quiz night but there will be some Jewish-themed questions.”

Max said the funds raised would be used to pay the teachers and improve technology at the synagogue.

“It’s a very old building and it’s not designed around modern technology,” he said.

“Perth’s Jewish community isn’t incredibly large, there’s only one Jewish school and three or four synagogues.

“I want to bring people outside of the synagogue to donate to it because it’s always the same people doing it.”
