Meet your match: How Louanne Ward is helping Perth’s ‘elite singles’ find love

Greig JohnstonWestern Suburbs Weekly

WHAT do you get the millionaire who has everything? Why, another millionaire of course.

That’s if you’re City Beach woman Louanne Ward, a ‘millionaire matchmaker’ who works with busy professionals and executives looking for their socio-economically compatible soul mate.

Ms Ward is the managing director of the PMM and Associates, formerly the People’s Introduction Bureau, an organisation which matches “elite singles in Perth”.

But if that all sounds cynical, a chat with Ms Ward reveals someone with a passion to see people in committed and happy relationships.

She has been in the matchmaking business for more than 20 years, successfully placing thousands of eligible men and women into long-term, committed relationships.

“I watched my dad bring up four children on his own,” she said.

“As a young girl, five years old, watching what actually happens to a person who’s had a loving relationship and then all of a sudden doesn’t have it anymore.

“I’ve always had a fascination with how important that fundamental one thing is.

“Everybody wants it but not everybody can find it.”

But while the ‘millionaire matchmaker’ tag has been bandied about, it’s perhaps a little unfair.

Ms Ward said her service is more about matching people who’ll be compatible in the long term.

“For people who want a luxury experience, this is a very safe place for them to come,” she said.

“While I do work for a particular group of people, not all of my clients are clearly millionaires.

“I guess everyone wants to fish in the same pond.

“A lot of my clients need confidentiality – they cannot or will not put themselves online.”

Ms Ward said she relied on her intuition and gut feel when making a match.

“A computer cannot match you,” she said.

“An algorithm cannot understand human nature and human behaviour.

“I will have conversations with my clients. I learn so much from that.

“Having that understanding of each person’s different experiences will help me.

“I have a very strong intuition and gut feel – I know a good match when I see it and feel it.”
