THE 7th Annual Kathmandu Kids Fundraiser gives Northbridge’s Mela Indian Sweets and Eats owners Shelly and Sacha Grewal an opportunity to give back.

“Given the recent events in Nepal it’s imperative we all step up and help where and how we can,” Mrs Grewal, of City Beach, said.

Indian chefs from the 10-year-old restaurant have been providing their sweet and savoury delicacies for the fundraiser for the past few years.

This year, offerings will include tandoori items, Afghan chicken and mini samosas along with bite-sized sweets that Mrs Grewal said the restaurant was renowned for.

“”We’ll provide food you could get walking down the street in Delhi,” she said.

The Mela Indian team is among food and beverage suppliers and volunteers who donate their produce and time to ensure every cent raised goes towards Kathmandu Kids, which supports the Sunrise Children’s Organisation in the Kalimati slums.
