METHODIST Ladies College (MLC) students swam and ran to help raise $1 million for their soon-to-be completed aquatic precinct on Thursday.

The all-day Splash and Dash event involved students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The college raised about $38,000 on the day, with more money still to be counted.

Head Girl Sophie Rasmussen said the MLC and Christ Church Grammar School’s (CCGS) shared aquatic precinct would be an important new asset to students.

“It will be a great to have the pool space and it means we can develop our swimming skills and from kindy to year 12, students will be able to swim all year round,” she said.

WA water polo stars Zoe Arancini and Lilian Hedges visited the college to show their support to students with their fundraising venture.

“Particularly for girls with their development in the sport of swimming, having another pool and more pool space means they have more time to train and get better,” Miss Hedges said.

The aquatic precinct, which is set for completion in 2020, will comprise a new 40m by 25m pool at the college, change rooms and a student area at CCGS.
