FUN and festivities are in full swing at Mercy Place Mont Clare, thanks to a group of students at Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) who spent time with residents last week.

The Year 10 students assisted residents with Christmas craft activities including jam making and biscuit baking, as well as running a day spa to give residents manicures and foot treatments.

The handmade gifts will be available for seniors to give to their families and visitors as presents throughout the festive season.

The initiative is part of MLC’s Week of Amazement, where students experience a range of horizon-expanding activities and community service programmes.

Mercy Place Mont Clare Service Manager Joan Lowney said residents loved preparing for Christmas, with the help of the enthusiastic teenagers.

“Christmas is a special time and this year is set to be extra special with the help of the MLC students, and the activities they are undertaking with our residents,” Ms Lowney said.

“We are very thankful to the school as well as all of the students who have volunteered at the home throughout the year.

“This relationship is very special, particularly to our residents who thoroughly enjoy the company of the students.”
