Fashion designer and cancer survivor Nanette Carnachan hopes to raise much-needed funds for Cancer Council WA at the third Winter Fashion Show tomorrow.
Ms Carnachan, who has been in remission from breast cancer for 10 years, said she decided to organise the fashion show with the Friends of Cancer Council WA after her own experience.

“I’m doing the show to raise money for research, which is desperately needed to continue the fight against cancer,” she said.
“This cause is so important; it’s life-saving. I wake up every morning and look in the mirror and I’m reminded of my breast cancer. It never really leaves you.”
Models will wear clothes from Ms Carnachan’s boutique Mid 70’s for the fashion show and guests will be joined by speakers Professor Eric Moses and Doctor Samantha Bowyer. Cancer Council WA fundraising co-ordinator Beth Watson said Ms Carnachan had been a big supporter of the Friends of Cancer Council WA.
“Money means progress in cancer research and we encourage people in the western suburbs to hold a fundraiser and help support research,” she said.
Ms Carnachan was instrumental in getting the drug Herceptin available in Australia and getting it government-funded after the $60,000 drug helped save her life.
“Every second person has been touched by cancer somehow and it’s something we need to help eradicate,” she said.
“I have a passion for fashion and we have put together a fantastic and professional fashion show, so we hope we can raise money and make a difference.”
The Winter Fashion Show 2016 will be held at Royal Perth Golf Club tomorrow from 10am to noon.
