Mission Australia’s WA Christmas Lunch in the Park a success

Rosanna CandlerWestern Suburbs Weekly

Mission Australia state director Amanda Hunt said people from all walks of life, whether they were experiencing financial difficulty or simply looking for companionship, joined to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

“It was the most beautiful day,” Ms Hunt said. “Christmas is a difficult time for some people, so it was wonderful to see such a calm, happy and harmonious event.

“We could not have days like this without the support of the very generous Perth community who volunteer time, donate gifts, food and decorations.”

On December 24, Community Services Minister Tony Simpson presented a $63,236 Lotterywest grant and a $20,000 State Government donation to support Mission Australia’s CLIP.

Mr Simpson helped serve lunch at the event with his wife and two daughters.

“This event brings people together to enjoy a meal, see some great entertainment and feel connected to their community,” he said.

“The efforts from across the community, local businesses and the volunteers are truly heart-warming to see.”
