More feedback sought on Indiana redevelopment

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

INDIANA restaurant leaseholder Andrew Forrest has organised more opportunities for the public to have its say on two designs vying for redevelopment of the Cottesloe Beach site from today.

“Both proposals include swimming pools, improved public facilities and a host of hospitality offerings,” a spokeswoman for Mr Forrest’s Minderoo Group said.

The spokeswoman said the group wanted all West Australians to have their say on the site’s future.

“Renovating the existing building is also an option, however, given the current site’s design and positioning, the amenity provided by a refit would be limited,” she said.

An architecture competition collecting public feedback on new designs, including sessions in Cottesloe, has been running since March.

The spokeswoman said comments from the new round would be considered by the design jury later this month.

The group would then work with Cottesloe Council on planning for any changes at the restaurant.

The sessions are at:

  • Claremont Quarter shopping centre, 4pm to 6pm, on Thursday, October 3.
  • Cottesloe SLSC, 9.30am to 11.30am, and 2pm to 4pm, Scarborough Beach Multipurpose Room, on Saturday, October 5.
  • Subiaco Train Station 8am to 10am and noon to 2pm at Sorrento Community Hall, both Friday, October 11.

Updated designs announced last month from finalists Kerry Hill Architects and Durboch Block Jaggers are at www.minderoogroup.com/indiana-tea-house/ .
