Nedlands: university student attacked by two men with metal bar

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

A UNIVERSITY student (25) was seriously assaulted with a metal bar on Loftus Street, Nedlands, about 2.10am on October 10.

Constable Chris Ford said the student saw a parked silver vehicle, possibly a 4WD, in front of him as he walked along the street.

“The vehicle had the headlights on, and as he walked towards the vehicle, he shielded his eyes from the lights,” Constable Ford said.

However, when the student got past the vehicle two men got out and punched and kicked him, before one got a metal bar.

“The student attempted to run away, but was caught by the men and the bar was used to assault him,” Constable Ford said.

Despite his injuries, the student walked home to call an ambulance, and was treated for a broken finger, a fractured hand, and cuts and bruises to his body.

His first attacker was described as light skinned, about 25, 180-190cm, with a muscular build and blonde hair, while the accomplice was light skinned, about 25, 170-180cm tall, medium build and blonde hair.
