Surf Life Saving WA announced on Twitter their brand new observation tower had sustained smashed windows on Wednesday night.

“These towers help our volunteers carry out life saving work in the community,” they said.

The purpose-built tower gives lifesavers a vantage point almost three metres high to watch beachgoers.

Surf Life Saving WA general manager Chris Peck recently told Community News the towers would help lifesavers spot hazards and increase their patrolling footprint.

Similar towers are due to be built in Mandurah, Coogee, Scarborough, Mullaloo, Port Bouvard, Yanchep, Secret Harbour, Sorrento and Bunbury by summer.
