BUMBLING bandits, a runaway princess and a genial genie will come to life at Subiaco Arts Centre next week.

Forty-seven Year Six students from North Cottesloe Primary School are performing musical comedy Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits on August 28 and 29.

The city of Old Baghdad is in chaos, with the bazaar overrun with ruthless robbers and Sultan Pepper’s Royal Ruby and precious princess vanished from the palace.

It is up to Ali Baba to save the day with tap-dancing camel Humphrey, and mystical mayhem galore.

Performing arts specialist Linda Arnold said the show featured great music, dancing and lots of laughs, with good rising over evil.

She said running a year six production was a tradition at the school, and had been taking place at Subiaco Arts Centre for around 12 years.

“This is the one experience that they remember more than anything,” she said.

“I still have 20-year-olds coming up to me talking about it.”
