Subiaco hairdresser creates gift boxes for women in crisis

So Ms Milne launched the LipBox Project to donate more than 50 personally crafted gift boxes for women in crisis accommodation at Zonta House Refuge Association.

‘It seemed a shame to throw these products away as they were perfectly fine, so I started researching how I could best put these items to someone in need that may not be able to treat themselves,’ she said.

The decorated shoeboxes were filled with skincare products, cosmetics, stationery, chocolates and Ms Milne’s signature addition of a colourful lipstick.

The LipBox Project donation coincided with the Zonta House Refuge Association 30th anniversary in October.

Zonta House Refuge manager Kelda Oppermann said the donation could not have come at a better time.

‘Many of the women using our crisis accommodation service leave their abusive partners and their homes, with nothing but their handbag,’ Ms Oppermann said.

Ms Milne said she hoped the LipBox Project would encourage others to donate.
