Officer hurt in Jolimont manhunt

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

About 2.50pm, two police officers on patrol saw four men jumping Peel Street fences and while one followed on foot, his partner chased in the police vehicle, before it was hit by a car driven by one of the men, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Pepper spray and a taser were used to arrest the car’s driver and during this time one of the officers was allegedly assaulted. The driver was handcuffed but he then ran off when the other officer went to treat his semi-conscious partner nearby.

The injured constable was taken by St John Ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital and later released with severe bruising.
