PEOPLE hiring bikes on Rottnest Island can secure their ride with the click of a finger, on the Island or before they board in Fremantle.

iPads set up at Pedal and Flipper and B Shed allow people to hire bikes electronically rather than through a staff member.

Pedal and Flipper supervisor Christine Lilly said the new system would make the hiring process easier and quicker for customers and staff.

“When we open the door every morning we don’t know how busy we’ll be,” she said.

“Now hopefully we’ll be fully booked by the time we open the door.”

Pedal and Flipper has a fleet of brand new bikes as well as 20 electric bikes.

“Once people get on them (electric bikes) there’s no going back to a normal bike,” Ms Lilly said.
