PEPPER spray was used before amateur rugby league players were charged for allegedly failing to obey requests to leave the Ocean Beach Hotel, Marine Parade about 5pm on January 27.

Senior Constable Mark Matthews said the men were part of a buck’s party that was initially refused entry by OBH staff, but allegedly went in anyway, before splitting up in groups, which the staff tried to remove.

Riot-trained police were called and one of the players was pepper sprayed.

A Wangara man (49) is charged with disorderly conduct, a Thornlie man (30) with re-entering a licensed premises, a South Perth man (31) with remaining in an area after being instructed to leave, and all will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
