UMBRELLAS and raincoats are being thrown aside for the return of Peppermint Grove Carols by Candlelight, after heavy rain and storms cancelled the annual event last year.

“The Salvation Army’s Balga community band will be again be accompanying the singing, led by the Mighty Camelot Choir,” organiser Kate Mattes said.

All the money raised at the event will go to Balga Early Learning Centre to purchase play and craft equipment, and a small Christmas gift for each of the children in care.

“You can help support the centre by purchasing a raffle ticket with wonderful prizes to be won from local businesses such as Just Music, Mainpeak, Vans, Boatshed Market and Murph and Murp,” Ms Mattes said.

Non-perishable food can be also donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.

Singers can buy hotdogs or a sausage sizzle, but many will bring a picnic to Manners Hill Park before the carols start at 6.30pm on Sunday, December 16.
