Perth: Former police officer charged over alleged unlawful use of computer

A FORMER WA police officer has been charged with 177 counts of unlawful use of a computer by the Internal Affairs Unit.

The 48-year-old former senior constable resigned in May this year after being stood down from operational duties in March.

He was previously charged by Internal Affairs with three counts of unlawful use of a computer, one of possession of an indecent or obscene article and one of stealing as a public servant.

The new charges were the result of a joint investigation by Internal Affairs and the Corruption and Crime Commission.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on November 23.
