Perth hit with another measles alert

THE Department of Health has issued another measles alert for Perth, the 54th measles notification this year to date.

More than half of those (28) have been reported since the end of September.

Individuals should remain vigilant for the onset of measles symptoms for the next three weeks if they are not immune to measles and were present at the following venues, during the specified days and times:

Thursday, 17 October:

  • Pear Tree Cafe, Hamilton Hill – 7.50am to 8.30am
  • Scarvacis (IGA), Hamilton Hill Shopping Plaza – 5pm to 6pm

Friday, 18 October:

  • First Choice Liquor Market, North Lake Road, Jandakot – 4pm to 5pm

Saturday, 19 October:

  • Bakers Delight, Simms Road, Hamilton Hill – morning

Sunday, 20 October:

  • Scarvacis (IGA), Hamilton Hill Shopping Plaza – 10.30am to 12noon
  • Optimal Pharmacy Plus, Hamilton Hill Shopping Plaza – 10.30am to 12noon
  • BNB Fresh, Simms Road, Hamilton Hill – afternoon

Measles is a serious and highly contagious viral illness spread when infected people cough and sneeze.

Being in the same room in, or soon after, someone with measles can result in infection in people who are not immune.
