WA man extradited over alleged 1986 indecent assaults

A MAN has been extradited to Melbourne from WA to face criminal charges over the alleged indecent assault of two boys aged 11 and 12.

The 59-year-old man has been charged with five counts of gross indecency and three counts of indecent assault against the boys at Lovely Banks, near Geelong in 1986.

He faced a Perth court on Wednesday and his extradition to Victoria was approved.

“Victoria Police is committed to investigating and bringing to justice those people who prey on children no matter how many years have passed,” spokeswoman Natalie Webster said.

She encouraged all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, or those with knowledge of a crime, to make a report.

The man is expected to front Melbourne Magistrates Court later on Thursday.
