Perth Modern student puts good mental health in the spotlight

PERTH Modern School student Aayushi Shah has won an award in the Mental Health Association Photography Competition, winning a $1000 voucher.

The theme for the competition was self-care, which judges said the 15-year-old had effectively depicted.

“I wanted to show that relaxation and self-care is a mental state and there are always things you can do to help yourself,” she said.

“My photo represented taking the time to treat yourself, such as listening to good music, mindful doodling, healthy eating and the comfort and cosiness of warm socks.”

Aayushi likes to draw as a way to relax, and included one of her drawings in the winning photo.
