Perth mum accused of poisoning baby with bleach to remain in psychiatric facility

A mother accused of trying to murder her disabled baby by pouring bleach into his feeding tube remains in a psychiatric facility in Perth.

Brooke Evelyn Lucas, 26, allegedly tried to poison her 13-month-old son William, who was born with Pierre Robin sequence and needs 24-hour care, on December 29.

Lucas appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from the Frankland Centre at Graylands Hospital and will remain at the facility until at least next week when she appears in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court.

She was charged on January 11 with intending to kill or endanger her son Lucas.

Last week, the boy’s family said he was recovering and expected to be released into their care.
