Perth teen cellist plays on world stage

A CHURCHLANDS teenager has shown his musical prowess on the world stage.

Max Wung (14) won second place at the recent Beijing International Cello Competition in China.

The International School of Western Australia student was the only Australian cellist invited to compete.

Max beat more than 30 musicians , who he said were very competitive.

“The whole experience was very educational to me as a young cellist, and I met other very talented virtuosos and teachers,” he said.

“I was over the moon with the end results.

“I felt that all my hard work and months of practice had paid off.”
