PERTH’S inner suburbs have been adjudged to be Australia’s most liveable area in a study by global market research and consulting firm Ipsos.

The Ipsos Life in Australia study – which surveyed 10,000 people on topics such as whether they feel safe, have adequate healthcare or have access to affordable housing – gave Perth’s inner suburbs the best rating in the country.

Based on the scores gleaned in 16 categories, inner Perth scored 68.6 per cent, beating Adelaide’s central and hills region (67 per cent) and Sydney’s eastern suburbs (65.8 per cent).

The areas Perth residents marked highest were the city’s access to the natural environment (8.3) and the shopping, leisure and dining (7.7).

Other areas to score highly were the city’s high quality health services (7.5) and the ability to view and participate in sport (7.5).

The areas of the country to score the poorest were Sydney’s Baulkham Hills & Hawkesbury region, and Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs.
