THIEVES have been stealing bathroom and plumbing equipment in a spate of crimes in Floreat and Mount Hawthorn over the past fortnight.

“They’ve been breaking in to steal the copper piping, pipes, taps, water heaters, shower heads, that sort of stuff,” Senior Sergeant Peter Gilmour said.

From January 4 to January 21 in Floreat, there were thefts at homes in Honsey Street, two in Alderbury Street, twice at a Kirkdale Avenue house, and at properties in Kinross Crescent, Rannock and Tralee streets.

In Mount Hawthorn, a London Street home was hit on January 20.

The thieves retuned to complete their haul from the Kirkdale Avenue home over two days

Sgt Gilmour said the barrels to door locks were taken when the house was hit the second time, after copper pipes, taps, showerhead and a water meter were taken the previous day.

However no vehicles have been seen near the homes to remove the sometimes large items.

Sgt Gilmour said the public should avoid showing pictures of the insides of vacant homes if they are being advertised on the internet.
