PLC shoes the way to help those most in need

For the Walk in My Shoes campaign, students donated their good quality second-hand shoes for indigenous people in remote communities, refugees and homeless young people.

Hundreds of pairs of shoes will go to UnitingCare West, who will distribute them to those in need.

Year 12 service captain Elsa Silberstein said it was important to not only raise money for charity but also look outwards and understand other people's struggles.

"Service is a big part of PLC," Elsa said.

"I always expect a lot from these girls.

"We had so many donations, we actually ran out of bags."

Community and service learning co-ordinator Tracey Bahen said the school's service philosophy was about coming to terms with a sense of empathy for other people's situations.

"So the girls can consider what it's like to walk in another person's shoes," Tracey said.
