PRESBYTERIAN Ladies’ College student Patricia Frazis was one of just a dozen West Australian students asked to debate at a recent United Nations Youth National Conference in Perth.
The Year 12 student represented Iraq during the model World Health Organisation Committee and General Assembly debates, which brought together 100 exceptional young people from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Patricia said she had to research the country’s system of government, political parties, religion and stance on world issues prior to the conference.

READ NOW“It was incredibly interesting learning so much about a country that is very different from Australia,” she said.
“It definitely helped me understand the beliefs and actions of other countries and why they respond in particular ways during real life political crises and debates.”
The theme of the conference was “innovation revolution” and explored the impact of technology on global politics.
