Plea to help paint Doubleview poles

Laura PondWestern Suburbs Weekly

DOUBLEVIEW residents are being called on to help brighten the suburb.

Community group The Bend in the Road wants people to grab a paintbrush and paint power poles along Scarborough Beach Road on November 2 and 3.

The group approached the City of Stirling, which gave its approval for the colourful project, which it noted was the first of its kind.

Chairman David Wray encouraged locals to join in the effort to paint 29 power poles between St Brigids Terrace and Duke Street an array of vibrant colours.

“We’re a strength-based group who focus on making the area the very best we know it can be through place activation,” he said.

“People have commented that the excellent double views of city and ocean are blighted by ugly power poles, so we thought let’s turn that into a strength and actually use it to define the location.”

Mr Wray said he hoped people could spare an hour or two to help as they needed as many volunteers as possible to complete the work.
