Police searching for two men after suspicious Nedlands blaze

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

POLICE say two men were seen running from a suspicious fire in Nedlands early this morning.

The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 damage to the Acton Cottesloe/Dalkeith real estate office on Stirling Highway about 4.50am.

“You can see exactly what they do, then there’s a flash, and they run off,” Senior Constable Mark Pollock said.

However it is not known yet which business in the large office building may have been the target.

“We don’t know if it was Acton or the adjacent Paragon offices,” Constable Pollock said.

Paragon’s 42 accounting staff who occupy the office’s top floor have been told to take a week’s leave at their busiest time of year, after the fire caused significant smoke damage to their work spaces.

Paragon managing director Ken Thomas said there had been no threats to his “easy-going business”.

Police are continuing their investigation by asking anyone with any CCTV footage or dashcam video of the area to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
